Have trouble waking up without your morning coffee? Try this for a few days and watch your caffeine dependency fade away...
4 large leaves of kale, stalk removed
1/4 cup goji berries*
1/4 fresh pineapple, cut into pieces
1/2 banana, peeled
3/4 cup favorite berries (fresh or frozen)
1 dried fig, chopped
1 1/2 tbsp. bee pollen**
14 oz. raw coconut or spring water
Place water, pineapple, and banana in a blender and mix until smooth. Add goji berries, bee pollen, fig, and berries and blend. While blender is running, drop kale leaves in, one at a time, allowing them to be completely chopped and incorporated. Let blender run until smoothie has a milkshake consistency. Add additional water if necessary. If using a high-speed blender, such as a Vitamix, place all ingredients at once and blend until smooth.
*Goji berries are a superfood with more beta carotene than any other food. They are high in antioxidants, contain all the essential amino acids, and contain betaine, which assists in removing plastics in the form of bad estrogens from the body.
**Bee pollen is a superfood and should be added to one’s diet in small increments to allow the body to become accustomed to its superior nutrient-density. It contains vital enzymes, phytonutrients, B vitamins, and is a complete protein, containing all the essential amino acids. Bee pollen may not be suitable for people with allergies to bee stings, honey or other bee products.
